Holidays to the North Yorkshire Moors National Park
North York Moors is famous for its wild heather moorland, softly wooded dales, and 25-mile coastline known as the “dinosaur coast” where a profusion of fossils going back 200 million years can be seen. England’s most wooded national park has a fifth of its area covered by forests where native oak, ash, birch and rowan abound.
The park’s rich heritage includes medieval abbeys, castles and tudor mansions in various states of repair. The North Yorkshire Moors Railway offers a memorable trip from past times under steam power from the market town of Pickering to the seaside resort of Whitby.
