Holidays to the New Forest National Park

William the Conqueror’s former hunting ground is known for its primeval forest which is now home to a rich variety of flower species, trees and animals, such as deer and the famous New Forest ponies. From the Bronze Age onwards some areas were cleared for cultivation and the poor quality of the soil meant that the cleared areas turned into heathland, ideal grazing-land for horses.

Popular ways to explore the park are by horse, walking, cycling, and new electric cars. During the summer the New Forest Tour offers double-decker, open-top buses that travel around the park’s countryside, villages and coastline.
