There is also a chance to visit a traditional reindeer farm and have a ride in a Lappish sleigh. Our wilderness base is located at the edge of Oulanka National Park in a truly spectacular setting, perfect for this fun-filled winter holiday.

Summary Itinerary

Day 1 – Start Basecamp Oulanka
Day 3 – Gentle half day snowshoe walk, exploring the park; free use of snowshoes in the afternoon.
Day 4 – Morning cross-country ski lesson. Free use of skis after lesson.
Day 5 – Morning free in Ruka for optional snowmobile safari or downhill skiing;
Day 6 – Free morning; afternoon children’s snow games: sledging, building snow forts and snowmen.
Day 7 – Free day. Optional activities include ice-climbing, frisbee park, dogsledding or snowmobile tours.
Day 8 – End Basecamp Oulanka.

A bite out of the Big Apple

Amazing New York highlights were a Broadway show, Central Park, Empire State building and Time Square. We visited MoMA which was amazing to see all best artwork in the world, we were just not expecting it, every room we went into there was another masterpiece. Our hotel was under a mile from the subway station and we saw how the New Yorkers live and commute.

Amazing Scenery and Wildlife

We saw loads of animals, bison, black and grizzly bear, elk, deer and even wolves in the distance. Waterfalls and lakes were magnificent and the trails that we walked were all so beautiful and well worth visiting.

Humbled by our surroundings

Every turn held more beauty than we expected. We were humbled by the size of the surrounding peaks. The feeling of being in a cathedral never left us as we stopped in deserted spots and just gazed at our surroundings.
