France’s seven national parks are all in the south of the country and range in size from Port-Cros National Park, a tiny island of 3 square miles in the Mediterranean, to Vanoise National Park, 480 square miles of stunning scenery in the French Alps. Mountain landscapes feature highly in these parks and all have been selected not only for their outstanding scenery but also for their distinct cultural heritage. There are a further three national parks overseas in Guadeloupe, Reunion and French Guiana. All ten parks are administered by the organisation Parcs Nationaux de France.
